There are so many myths when it comes to driving and avoiding speed traps. Many think they have the perfect way of deceiving the system or more specifically, speed cameras. The majority of the stories passed around on how to evade speed cameras are no more than myth that are totally incorrect.

Myth: Slowing down for the camera then speeding up again later will help you not get caught.

This in fact used to work when the speed was captured at a single point. The majority cameras today are measuring a few moments to obtain an average speed which means that this technique won’t work.

Myth: You can use a variety of different things, like aluminium foil, to deflect radar detection, and make it impossible for it to read the speed at which you’re travelling.

There are many claims that a certain material will help your car from being detected by radar. But the reality is that none of these claims are able to be substantiated. The issue to also keep in mind is that if a method worked well today, it would be a limited time before radar was enhanced to detect the speed anyway.

Myth: Different devices can mess up radar, so it won’t work properly.

Devices created for this actually don’t work. If you seek to use technology to your benefit, there are a variety of applications that can tell you where the cameras are. One positive consequence of people knowing where speed traps are positioned, is that they will drive more cautiously.
