FITNESS CLUB BUSINESS IDEA. If a company made a bunch of plug n play bikes to a KW Meter, Users could compete, who produces more power over a week, month, year. Green Gym Solar Fitness Club off the Grid. Future residential solar power systems. Solar job career opportunity. This is a DC Permanent Magnet Motor used as a generator. The GRID TIE INVERTER is a SPECIAL INVERTER that can attach to your grid and back power your house reducing the electrons you get from the power company. THIS IS NOT A REGULAR INVERTER, do not rig a regular inverter to your grid our you can croak. Also this answerS THE QUESTION AGAIN ABOUT BLACK OUTS AND GRID TIE INVERTERS. They cannot back power during an outage, Electronics prevent this and need voltage detection to work. EVEN if the unit were somehow altered, the load of all the appliances in your house and neighborhood would cause the inverter to overload, so it is not possible to power your neighborhood or even your house alone with a Grid Tie Inverter during a blackout. UNLESS YOU ARE PRODUCING MORE POWER THAN YOUR HOUSE IS USING, THE GRID TIE INVERTER WILL NOT BACK POWER THE ELECTRICAL GRID. THE ELECTRONS PRODUCED FROM YOUR SOLAR PROJECT CONVERTED TO AC VIA THE GTI WILL BE USED BY APPLIANCES AND LIGHTING IN YOUR HOUSE FIRST.

combine solar cell output creating 2 kilowatts for a commercial magnatron could heat water inside a box of interconnected CPVC pipe, for instant-on hat water for you major uses like bathing or washing clothes.

@GREENPOWERSCIENCE the gym i use to go to had some old running machines that had no electric they use to just work by friction inside of them the faster you fan the faster they went and the slower the slower they went no buttons to control the speed just your legs lol

What would be interesting is to compare, using the same equipment in the video, different types of “engines” that could drive that generator and see how much each one produces. Steam engine, gas engine, diesel engine, human power etc etc I’m not sure how you would compare like-for-like but you guys are smart so you’ll figure it out. Maybe by BTU or something? Anyway…hope you take my suggestion and post it. Thumbs up if you want to see this done!

That was an awesome demo! And thank you for the detailed info on the safety of Grid Tie inverters and their difference from normal inverters.

Hmm your left arm was the only part big at the end of the vid, I wonder what you were doing to get that result.

40 sec. into the video I have to say: I thought about this too!
Never made it past the joke concept, though, people here are fickle with new concepts but I mean think about all the energy! Joules are watts too!
Excited to watch the rest.

This is a really cool demo!
I have a question – could something on a smaller scale be attached to the wheels of car?? You figure, the car is spinning (4) tires any number of miles in a day… If you have the power feeding into some batteries in the trunk or something… What if every car in California was doing that! Wow – Thanks for sharing this.

I sat on a bike and put my foot on a bathroom scale at pedal height. On average pedal I managed to push 35 kg. I then counted how fast you where pedaling here and it 1 rev per second – calculating power with a 200mm long crank gives 439 Watts of mechanical power. Its sad to see that you loose so much when you convert it to AC – but I do like the idea – try going straight from the bike to the treadmill motor with DC or batteries. Inverters suck when it comes to efficiency.

cool vid, u need to wrk out both arms
there is a lot of stuff u can do to improve the bike set up to make it more efficient. I can see how a whole spinning class with motivated folks can crank out some real power

Know nothing about electricity except where to send my payment. How many people belong to the local “spinning classes”? (Just watched PBS documentary on Earth Day 2010…April 22 & I’m psyched up!!!!!!!!!) Have always envisioned some sort of running oval, around an indoor track., that is really a giant treadmill. Hundreds of people participate at scheduled appointments & get credits toward their bills. How about it????

have them all indiviudually metered and make it so if you do this much in amonth you get a discount. make a scoreboard. your discounts will probably offset the savings but its a great marketing, getting more people to come and try to comptete

so true. your legs should be 95% extended to get the maximum amount of power per stroke.
